Poles Apart
With the Milky Way core setting earlier each night, and the moon approaching the largest ‘supermoon’ we’ve had in 70 years the chance of capturing nice dark sky shots of the core are gone.
But never fear, it gives you more opportunity to explore other avenues of astrophotography including star-trails.
This one shows the movement of the stars as the earth spins around it’s axis clearly showing the ‘celestial south pole’ in the sky.
Anyone who’s driven into or out from Rotorua along SH5 will recognize this ‘rock’. It’s actually quite massive up close!
