That Taupo Tree
On a clear night, if you stand still long enough, you can literally watch the entire universe go by.

This is what’s called a Star Trail, made up of multiple photos blended to join the path the stars make as the earth rotates in space. You setup your camera on a sturdy tripod and shoot a long time-lapse sequence.
The sequence is later brought together and stacked in a program called StarStax which ‘joins up the dots’ of the stars.
300x 20sec exposures ƒ/2.8 ISO-500 every 22 seconds over one hour fifty minutes (1:50).
Foreground was averaged from 30 stills in the time-lapse
The lone tree growing out of the lake is lit up by nearby street lights and the glow behind the tree is from the Taupo city lights.
