The Wanaka Tree

I’ve just returned from a week long campervan relocation road trip with my kids from Christchurch to Auckland. What an epic way to pack a huge amount of locations and awesome memories into a holiday.

After all the rain that the South Island had received prior to our arrival many of the lakes we visited were swollen and some had burst their banks in places.

We spent a night in Wanaka and I had to get my ‘version’ of the famous #TheWanakaTree. So I pulled off my shoes, hung them in the nearby trees and waded into the lake, thigh-deep and settled in for a long exposure, 485sec to be exact, or eight minutes.
